Maddie Ovassapian has been an active member of her Armenian community since she was young. She attended Armenian School every Saturday until she was in 8th grade when she graduated. She also attended Hye Camp from ages 11-22. She was a camper, CIT, counselor, and then served as the head Female Counselor for her final year at Hye Camp. Armenian dance has been her new Armenian community activity and she is loving it! 

 

More personally, Maddie graduated from Illinois State University in 2019 and has been working at a middle school as a special education teacher. Maddie received her Masters Degree in Literacy in July 2022. She is currently serving as the Special Education Department Head at her school as well, which has helped her develop more leadership skills, which has contributed to her interest in being a part of Central Council. She hopes to continue to give back to the community, as it has given so much to her!
