Shahe Der Torossian
Ministries & Outreach
St. James Armenian Church
Watertown, MA
Shahe Der Torossian is an active member at St James (Watertown), as he was a part of both ACYOA Juniors and Seniors executive boards. In 2016, Shahe received the Archbishop Tiran Nersoyan Visionary Award for his continued dedication to helping out the ACYOA. He also attended St. James’ Sunday School, where he was valedictorian. While Shahe was active in ACYOA, he would also extend his hand in helping the church through their bazaar, picnic, and other events by helping in the kitchen, cleaning the hall, or organizing events. Shahe also attended St. Vartan Camp, where he was a camper and also a Counselor-in-Training (CIT).
None of Shahe’s involvement within St James and ACYOA would be possible without the push of his parents, but especially his brother Shant, for paving a path for him to follow. Shahe attended Suffolk University (Boston), where he completed his undergraduate with a bachelor’s in Finance and a minor in graphic design. While at Suffolk, he was also involved in their Armenian Students Association (ASA), where he would help promote Armenian culture for the university to understand and enjoy, especially through culinary means.
Shahe’s goal while on Central Council is to push creative boundaries, leading to ACYOA growth and increased involvement across the Diocese Chapters!
